Meet your guide…
Jess Thenhaus
Jess Thenhaus is an ANFT Certified Forest and Nature Therapy Guide, a NBHWC Nationally Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and the founder of Urban Forest Therapy.
Jess is on a mission to help busy people in urban (and suburban) environments reduce stress and recover peace in the present moments by cultivating a mindful connection with nature in their own backyard and local green spaces.
Holding a wealth of certifications and informed by more than a decade-long journey of education, training, and practice, Jess stands at the forefront of integrating nature-based wellness with somatic and trauma-informed care.
In her nature-based wellness programs, Jess offers a range of experiences including guided Forest Bathing and Nature Therapy Walks and Workshops, tailored Corporate Wellness Packages, In-Nature Team Building Events, and private personalized Health and Wellness Coaching. Her practice is rooted in an understanding that true health is a dynamic interplay of physical nourishment, emotional resilience, and creative expression—all grounded in the base of nature's wisdom.
Jess's expertise extends beyond nature-based wellness, encompassing Somatic Mindfulness Inquiry (Stillpoint Method under Lynn Fraiser) and Somatic Embodiment & Regulation Strategies (Linda Thai). She believes in the necessity of these tools not just for individual healing, but also for addressing the life traumas and collective trauma that has touched us all. In a world clamoring for our attention, Jess offers a sanctuary where technology is replaced by the living, breathing world around us.
Embracing bio-individuality, Jess guides her clients to discover personalized paths to nutrition and movement, rejecting one-size-fits-all solutions. Her approach is a testament to the belief that true health is a unique and personal journey, underpinned by the universal power of nature. Her intimate understanding of the distracted digital age, chronic health struggles, and the profound peace found in presence, inform her compassionate approach. Her practice is not merely about temporary reprieve but about weaving nature's restorative threads into the fabric of daily life.
Urban Forest Therapy is dedicated to helping individuals find well-being, peace, and presence through a holistic approach that nurtures connection with nature, honors personal health narratives, and employs somatic and trauma-informed practices for profound healing and enduring wellness.
