Meet your guide…
Jenifer Rune
Hi, I'm Jenifer Rune, an ANFT Certified Forest Therapy Guide, and I’m passionate about helping people reconnect with nature and themselves. I guide mindful Forest Bathing walks in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and at Penn Forest Natural Burial Park. These walks can help reduce stress and offer space to reflect on one's own personal journey. More than this, they also offer an oppotunity to connect deeply to the natural world, both in and outside of us.In 2023, I earned my Forest Therapy certification because I wanted to explore how nature can support healing. Based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, or Forest Bathing, my approach goes beyond receiving from nature—it’s about cultivating a deep, reciprocal relationship with the environment. By engaging with nature mindfully, we develop a connection that nurtures us, strengthens our bond with the world, and invites healing on both personal and collective levels. I’m excited to share this perspective with others through the practice of Forest Therapy.
Beyond Forest Therapy, I have a background in supporting others through personal growth. As a former Certified Peer Specialist, I have experience in the recovery movement and have supervised a peer support program, where I helped others navigate life challenges. I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Point Park University and am currently pursuing my Master’s in Social Work (MSW), with an interest in eco-therapy, grief support and mental health.
I also have a background in meditation and continue to incorporate mindfulness practices into my life. As an amateur wildlife photographer, I’m always inspired by the beauty of nature, which I love to share with others. In addition to leading walks, I volunteer with local nature reserves and parks. I guide Forest Therapy walks in a variety of Pittsburgh locations, including Riverview Park and Allegheny Commons, and I’m open to partnering with other organizations and non-profits in the area.
Whether you're looking for stress relief, mindfulness, or a deeper connection to the natural world, I’d love to guide you on a Forest Therapy walk that meets your needs. Please feel free to check out my current walks, or contact me to set something up for yourself or your group!
