Catherine Mangan
"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower." ~Albert Camus
Catherine Mangan is a Certified Forest Therapy Guide through The Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs (ANFT). She is certified in Wilderness First Aid Essentials and CPR through the Wild Med Institute for Wilderness and Emergency Medicine. From a childhood spent camping and hiking with her large family, through her two years in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, her decades as a Clinical Social Worker, and currently as a Certified Forest Therapy Guide, Catherine continues to recognize the importance of relationships and community. She believes it is through our relationships with ourselves and others that we find opportunities for healing and experience our own unique expression of Life. Believing that each person is on a journey filled with a variety of relationships, Catherine views forest therapy as naturally suited to offering each person the opportunity to explore their relationship with the "more than human world" in a safe, simple and gentle way. While slowly wandering along easy trails, each person is invited to experience their own unique relationship with Nature in an unhurried, relaxed fashion, engaging all of their senses.
With the intention of "giving back," Catherine volunteers with the Cleveland Metroparks, helping out at a Welcome Desk at a Nature Center, and as a member of the Clean Team. She offers Guided Forest Therapy walks through Centering Space, a local non-profit retreat center in Lakewood, Ohio, and she is available to other local organizations and non-profits, bringing Guided Forest Therapy walks to their staff and the people they serve. She is also available to individuals, families, and groups who wish to schedule private walks. Catherine guides walks in a variety of locations in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area.
