Meet your guide…

Eileen Gebbie
As the proprietor of Wisdom & Wilderness, my professional experience includes teaching at the University of Illinois, serving as staff at an community organizing alliance, being the Executive Director of a Habitat for Humanity affiliate, and serving all that is holy as the first female and first queer senior pastor at two congregations in the United Church of Christ (a non-creedal Christian denomination pushing the boundaries of radical inclusion).
So I have spent a lot of time with people in crisis, people who are being actively oppressed, people who are curious, people who are fearful, people who are being born, people who are dying. And I have confronted a great deal of sexism and homophobia in myself and in response to my self. I have come to understand that all persons are gifted with wisdom and we are part of wilderness, still able to hear creation's song, this creation that is irrevocably climate-changed.
Through spiritual direction (companionship) and forest therapy, I work with individuals and groups to practice the arts of listening and partnering that take us beyond conversation and observation and into the heart and soul of being our truest selves and being part of the planet at this particular time.

Allerton Park & Retreat Center Lost Garden
Monticello, IL, USA
Two hours of somatic healing and more-than-human relationship-building at Allerton (Lost Garden area). The paths are natural, rather than paved, and we do go up and down a bit, though at a very slow pace (forest therapy is not a hike). Note: this area of Allerton does not have any restroom facilities, if that is a concern for you. I will send additional information on where to park and what to expect after registration.

Hidden Acres
Homer, IL, USA
Hidden Acres is a gem of a park in Homer, IL, and an ideal spot to submerse our senses. Due to the very limited parking at Hidden Acres, I have priced these sessions **by car** rather than per person, assuming each car will carry up to five people. So one $75 registration will cover one car load. Take advantage of this option for a family outing, business team building, church retreat, or the like. Note: Hidden Acres does not have any restroom facilities. I will send details regarding parking and more of what to expect once you have registered. Front-line health care workers are welcome to use the coupon code FRONTLINE for free walks up to 10 times through the end of 2022.
