Conner Prairie Museum
Welcome to the Trails at Conner Prairie. The Trails at Conner Prairie consists of two pathways — a paved Prairie Trail and a more rugged, natural R.B. Annis Vista Trail. These trails provide discovery for everyone. Conner Prairie Museum is located along the banks of the White River in central Indiana. The White River formed during the glacial retreat over 17,000 years ago. Early humans arrived in this area around 13,000 years ago to enjoy the rich habitat along the riverbanks. This land has been tended by many Indigenous communities, including the Miami and Lenape people, groups who still have an active presence at Conner Prairie and in central Indiana. When William Conner arrived in the area in the early 1800s, he built relationships with members of the Lenape. Those relationships had positive and negative impacts on the local communities and surrounding land. Eli Lilly purchased the property about 100 years ago with the aim of connecting people with history. Conner Prairie Museum is now a regional outdoor attraction and living history museum situated on over 1000 acres. This land continues to be tended by a dedicated group of staff, volunteers, donors, and board members of diverse backgrounds and interests. The Trails at Conner Prairie follow the path of an oxbow bend in the White River. The paved Prairie Trail follows agricultural fields and native prairie grass areas. The rugged RB Annis Vista trail is located atop the berm built over 100 years ago. The berm offers views of both the White River and the prairie fields, while tucked under the tree canopy. Guests can participate in Forest Therapy experiences through guided and self-guided programs. The self-guided Forest Therapy trail begins at the main trailhead behind the Symphony Bowl. Pick up a Forest Therapy leaflet at the trailhead and follow the invitations provided. For a guided experience, please check out the "Walks" section of our profile or click here.
