Originating in Japan, Forest Bathing (or Shinrin-yoku) is a mindfulness, embodiment, nature connection practice. This transformative practice transcends traditional notions of outdoor recreation and invites you to engage with nature in an entirely new light. Forest Bathing is a gentle invitation to slow down, immerse in the sights, sounds, smells, textures, and tastes of the forest, and to wander freely without any destination in mind. By tuning into the rhythms of nature and the wisdom of your own inner landscape, experience deep relaxation, insight, and connection.
THE FOREST BATHING EXPERIENCE
Upon your arrival, you will receive a brief introduction about Forest Bathing and have the opportunity to get to know your companions for the walk.
Expect to spend 2-3 hours in the natural world as I guide you through a relaxing, gentle walk. A walk is not a hike (unless you sign up for the Suni-ai Forest Bathing Hike!). In fact, we rarely go farther than a half a mile. It’s more about being here, than getting there.
Over the course of a guided walk, ‘invitations’ are given to continually return to the present moment through the senses. Simple, sensory invitations act as a doorway for you to become self-directed in cultivating your own unique experience. In this way, nothing is forced. Rather, you are encouraged to explore the forest at your own pace and to listen to your body and intuition.
Towards the end of the walk, we will gather together for tea, snacks, and sharing!
